Can I Live In My Home While It Is Being Reroofed?
There will come a time where your home need reroofed. Where your roof is having some issues which need solving, and the best way to do this is with a whole new roof. A commonly asked question regarding this is, will I be able to still live in my home whilst it is being reroofed? Simply, yes you can still live in your home whilst this project is taking place, but it is not always the best idea and we are going to tell you why.
Whilst you are still able to live in your home whilst it is being reroofed, we wouldn’t always recommend it. If you have young children, living in your home whilst this is taking place can be extremely dangerous. Due to their being dust and debris everywhere which they may hurt themselves on. To keep your children safe, we would recommend living away from home for the time that your roof is replaced.
Another reason why you may wish not to live at home during this process is the noise. A roofing project does make a lot of noise alongside the large amounts of mess. If you are someone who works from home, this may be difficult during this time so it may be best for you to have somewhere else you can work from.
Again, if you have young children or pets, we will always recommend you moving somewhere else that is still close by. The loud noises caused by this project can cause them to gain anxiety and feel uneasy. It is best for their mental health to be taken away from the situation until it is over.
So, yes you can stay living at home but we would not recommend it. If you do decide to stay elsewhere it is important you are close by and always contactable by phone if any of the workers were to ever need you.
