Roofing Contractors and Why you Shouldn’t Hire a Sub-Contractor

Many roofing companies will hire sub-contractors to keep costs down. These people work for themselves and are self employed, meaning the company hiring them doesn’t need to worry about pensions, employment law, regular wages etc. If they need to cut costs, they can get rid of a sub-contractor immediately without needing to make them redundant. This has many benefits for the contractor, but not so many for a consumer.

If you use a company that has sub-contractors, it’s likely you won’t have the same person doing all of your work for you. This could be a concern if the nature of the work is tricky and you are relying on it being completed by someone experienced. It also means that customer service is likely to be lacking. It may take longer to coordinate the whole job, and the people who turn up won’t necessarily have been working on your roof from beginning to end. This makes it harder for them to give accurate communication about timing of projects.
